Happy birthday, Luigi!

Happy (lockdown) celebration!

Your birthday would have been happier, if we were eating in an all-you-can restaurant or spending it in a beach or resort.

Anyway, MECQ or not, the celebration, albeit so simple, must go on.  Let's go to a park in the north for our lunch:

More birthdays to come!

Merry Christmas!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas day! And, I'm still blogging with yummy Macaroni Salad and a garlic coffee on the side. The salad was prepared by my wifey; and I just put half head of lettuce around it.

I'm also greeting my sister, Cristina, in Sydney, Australia a Happy Birthday!

Grande Island Resort - a dream becomes a reality

Everytime we go to Subic Freeport Zone, we dream of going to Grande Island Resort. We heard it's a good and nice getaway place but very expensive. Now, the dream became a reality.

A relative from San Diego invited us to join him and his wife - our niece for a belated three-day celebration of his 70th birthday at the island. His guests were not relatives and friends from the Philippines but from United States and Sweden. His other guests from other parts of the globe, for one reason or another, were not able to come.

Last Monday morning, the guests rendezvoused at the ferry terminal adjacent to the SBMA Administration Building Subic for the 30-minute boat ride to the island.

All the 29 guests were housed on chalets with their back verandas facing the bay and the mainland.

Unfortunately, it's raining on our first two days. We had not run out of luck, though, as the weather on our last day was very good. Despite the rainy weather, we really had fun, enjoyed our stay, the food, the drinks, and meeting new friends - foreign and local. The food were great - buffet breakfasts, and lauriat style lunches and dinners. The planned barbecue party on our second night was spoiled by the rains. The drinks were aplenty - red wine, whisky, vodka, tequila, rum, liquer and beer.

We thanked Matt (the celebrator) and his wife - Raquel for this once in a lifetime opportunity. And, nice meeting you - Herbie, Kristel, Rita, Bob, George, Solvig, Bob, Sonia, Vicky and Jun.

Asparagus wrapped in bacon(I forgot the Japanese term)

Yaki Udon (or is it Yaki Soba?)

Unagi Teriyaki - my favorite among my favorites

Salmon Teriyaki - another favorite

We were supposed to celebrate the birthday of Jon, our nephew, here; but, typhoon Cosme spoiled the plan. I've posted some pictures in my personal blog, "Think Of Me!". Jon's birthday celebration

Last Saturday, we celebrated the birthday of our nephew – Jon in a nearer resort in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. It is a pool resort called the “Grotto Vista Resort”. The original plan was to celebrate it in a beach resort in Bagac, Bataan. But, because Bataan was being battered by Typhoon “Cosme” and it was under signal number one, the original plan was called off.

Nonetheless, everybody enjoyed the birthday celebration.

Here are some views of Grotto Vista Resort:

Typhoon "Cosme" ruins our trip

We were supposed to go to a beach resort in Bagac, Bataan to celebrate the birthday of our nephew, Jon. This has been planned and prepared a month ago. But, because of typhoon "Cosme", which is expected to land fall by tomorrow, we postponed the trip but not the celebration. Typhoon "Cosme" has been bringing rains to the metropolis, particularly in the afternoon and evening. Signal no. 1 has been raised in the place where we are going.

We are still looking for an alternative pool resort in the metropolis or in nearby province - Bulacan to celebrate his birthday.

Please check PAGASA for more details and information on typhoon "Cosme".
