The 28th Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Bowling Tournament Opens


Last night, bowlers clad in a common white, black, and orange t-shirt uniform gathered in Coronado Lanes – Star Mall Shopping Complex for the opening ceremony and the first day of the 28th Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Bowling Tournament. The tournament is being hosted by Leighton Contractors Philippines.

The programme (emceed by Ms. Alice Capistrano of Leighton Contractors Philippines):
  • The invocation was led by Ms. Nelia Halcon, EVP – Chambers of Mines;
  • The opening remarks was given by Mr. Philip Naughton, the General Manager of Leighton Philippines;
  • The inspirational speech was delivered by Mr. Benjamin Romualdez, President of Chamber of Mines;
  • The presentation and induction of the Official COMP Bowling Committee;
  • The oath of sportsmanship was led by Mr. Art Ranin, QUESH Manager of Leighton Contractors;
  • The ceremonial roll was participated by all team captains;
  • The tournament was declared open by the Tournament Director, Mr. Christian Kho of Cathay Industrial and Mill Supply.
There are 19 teams participating this year or short by 5 teams from last year. The tournament proper shall be played in 19 weeks (every Tuesday) and will end on October 14, 2008. Then, the top bowlers will be chosen for the Masters Event.

The bowlers were very ecstatic to bowl and see their bowling buddies once again after about six months.

Free food and drinks were served during the games.
