Wanna be scared?

Do you want to be scared? Would a real scary movie do the trick? Then, watch the newest Horror movie – the Frontier(s). But, I suggest watching the Trailer first as this horror movie may be too scary for you. I watched the Trailer to see what it really offers and I found it gruesome and gory. That must be the reason why it was slapped an NC-17 rating. Xavier Gens, the director of the Hitman, wrote and directed this horror movie. It was originally intended for the Horrorfest 2007; but, due to its controversy, it hit the US theaters instead – unrated and uncut. I told my wife about it; and she is very excited to watch this movie. My wife is a fan and lover of horror films. She also collects DVD’s of the horror movies she had watched. And, I know she would buy the unrated and uncut DVD of the Frontier(s) as part of her collections.

I would recommend this movie, especially to those who have the courage for scary movies. If you have no or little guts, bring your family and friends with you. Typhoon "Cosme" ruins our trip

We were supposed to go to a beach resort in Bagac, Bataan to celebrate the birthday of our nephew, Jon. This has been planned and prepared a month ago. But, because of typhoon "Cosme", which is expected to land fall by tomorrow, we postponed the trip but not the celebration. Typhoon "Cosme" has been bringing rains to the metropolis, particularly in the afternoon and evening. Signal no. 1 has been raised in the place where we are going.

We are still looking for an alternative pool resort in the metropolis or in nearby province - Bulacan to celebrate his birthday.

I like scary movies

Are you brave enough to watch a real scary movie? I am; and my wife too. Have you heard about the newest scary movie? This newest Horror Movie - the Frontier(s), is really a scary movie. This horror film is written and directed by Xavier Gens. Because of its controversy, it hit selected theaters in the US unrated.and uncut. The unrated and uncut DVDs are now available.

It is a story of a gang of small time crooks who took advantage of riots in the French inner cities to rob. But something goes wrong and the group splits up. Being pursued by police, some of the gang take refuge in a hostel owned by degenerate redneck. They are unaware that their hick hosts are neo-Nazi cannibals. . . I’m stopping my account here.

I will definitely watch this one together with my wife, who is also a lover of horror movies.

In the Navy

We were in Harrison Plaza in Manila yesterday afternoon when we spotted a Philippine Navy band preparing their instruments on a makeshift stage. We learned that the Philippine Navy shall be celebrating its Founding Anniversary on May 20, 2008. As part of its pre-celebration, they are conducting mall tours to showcase their mission and accomplishments through film showing and pictures display. They are also encouraging young men and women aged 18 to 24 to join the navy.

The Naval Base Cavite (NBC) band and the Philippine Marines combo entertained the shoppers and mall patrons by playing their respective repertoires for free. The band received runs of applause for its good performance; while the combo stirred the crowd by playing the latest hits.

When I was a kid, it was my dream to be in the navy. My uncle was a sailor in the Philippine Navy; and I have three cousins who also joined the navy. Though I did not become a navy, I had some naval training - being an officer in Naval ROTC.

Beating the summer heat

One hot Friday, we planned on going some place to beat the summer heat. River water is definitely cooler than sea water; so we decided to head to a nearby province and looked for a river resort. We found one in Nagcarlan, Laguna. The resort is not one of the best but it could serve our purpose – to beat the summer heat.

Good news for horror movie fans

I have mentioned in my earlier post the good news for scary movie fans - the newest horror movie, entitled the Frontier(s). It will be shown in select theaters this May 9, 2008, or four days from now. The movie is uncut, controversial, and unrated. Despite being unrated it is exceptional; hence it will be shown in theaters unlike most of the unrated movies that did not get to the theaters. From the Trailer that I have previewed, I believe it is really a good horror movie that I and my wife are going to enjoy. I know horror movie lovers would enjoy watching it too. Check the theater listing and see which theater is nearest to your place.

My wife loves to watch it on the first day of showing. And, since this is another horror movie, she would not watch it without me because she thought I am not frightened. I am too; but, as much as possible, I do not show that I am. After watching the Frontier(s), I know that she would also buy the unrated and uncut DVD, after they are released on May 13, 2008. It’s her hobby to collect DVD of her favorite movies, especially the horror movies, for her DVD library.

Koreans in the Philippines

I’ve been to Subic Bay Freeport Zone several times in the past months. I just noticed that there are now more Koreans all over the place. I also noticed that they have constructed a big community church inside the zone.

Also, I noticed that the zone's street signs have Korean translation.

In Metro Manila and in other areas, Koreans are also very visible – in malls, restaurants, bars, etc. I understand that most of them are here as tourists to study English. More Koreans or other foreigners, for that matter, in the country mean more income from tourism.
