Views from the plane

For the past years, I have been traveling officially, mostly by air. Last year, because I traveled more than 30 times via PAL, I became an Elite member of PAL's Mabuhay Miles program. This year, however, I traveled less and I may not be able to meet the Mabuhay Miles Elite qualifications. I need to travel 8 more times within the rest of year to be qualified. Anyway, I would like to share some pictures I took from my seat from my last travel to Leyte. Fasten your seatbelts and fly with me:

St. Paul's choir

December 4 – From my executive check-up at St. Luke’s Medical Center, I proceeded to SM Mega Mall to attend the Awarding Ceremony of the 27^th Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Tenpin Bowling Tournament. Since it was still early I went to the grocery and bought some items, then walked around and window shopped. At the ground floor, there was an ongoing choir Christmas singing contest. I was at the fourth floor when a girls’ choir was performing. From there, I watched and listened to their performance. I also took their pictures from each floor down to the ground:

I learned from the security guard, the this choir is from St. Paul's Pasig City. I thought they performed well.

My user name is TiOheM. Where or how did I get this user name? If you will remove the small letter from it - i, h & e, what remain are T, O, & M. TOM is my nickname. Actually, I attempted to register my nickname TOM; but it has already been taken. So, I thought of just pronouncing the letters of my nickname - and I arrived at Ti, Oh, eM. Isn't it cool?

Who should read this blog?

I've seen this "Blog Readability Test - What level of education is required to understand your blog?" in other blogs. I thought of checking my blogs. This blog' reading level is GENIUS. I tried to post the badge here but it has link to a cash advance site; so I just deleted the badge.

I was also thinking if I would not post this anymore. I just decided to strike through the post. LOL.

Potpot pictures

I already featured Potpot, our pet shi tzu dog, in my other blog "Think of Me". Yesterday, he was newly bathed and groomed. I took my camera and took his pictures. This little dog, whose only love is to sleep, is camera shy. Eveytime you would focus the camera to him, he became conscious and turn his head away. Luckily, he was in the mood but was very lazy to stand up.

Bowling Pin Trophy

This is my trophy for being the 1st Runner-up of the Masters Event - Class 3 (Men's Division) of the just concluded 27th Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Tenpin Bowling Tournament. This is a real bowling pin, which was transformed into a trophy. Since Mr. Paeng Nepomuceno was the guest of honor, I had the trophy autographed by him. I need nine more of this to complete the tenpin.

Our Kia Carens

Our Kia Carens is now 25 days old and has run about 1,700 kilometers already. I have driven it to Subic Freeport Zone and Baguio City for the break-in. So far, I am satisfied with its features, power and performance. My only dilemma is I have to wash it more often as dirt and dust are very visible being colored black. Unlike in light colored cars, the dirt and dust seem to blend with the color. Here are some photos:

Joke - Venison dinner, dear or deer?

A man kills a deer and takes it home to cook for dinner. Both he and his wife decide that they won't tell the kids what kind of meat it is, but will give them a clue and let them guess.

The kids were eager to know what kind of meat was on their plates; so they begged their dad for a clue.

"Well", dad said, "It's what mommy calls me sometimes".

Philippine Military Academy

When we had our recent vacation in Baguio City, we did not miss the opportunity to visit the Philippine Military Academy in Fort Gregorio del Pilar. It is the premier military institution of the country, where the future officers of the Armed Forces of Philippines are educated and trained. Its mission:

"To instruct, train, and develop the cadets so that they will possess the character, the broad and basic military skills and the education essential to the pursuit of a progressive military career."

It is sad to note though that some products of the academy are disgrace to the academy and the military, in particular, and to the Filipino people, in general.

Star eggs

Janina, my daughter, was exploring the settings of the digital camera. She found these eggs lying on the counter, arranged them into star, and took pictures. I think it's a nice work.

World AIDS Day 2007

December 1 is internationally recognized as the World AIDS Day. This is the 19^th anniversary of this awareness program. Everyone should be reminded that HIV/AIDS remains a serious disease. No cure has been developed yet; and awareness and prevention is the best defense against its transmission and spread.

For 2007 and 2008 World AIDS Day, the theme is “leadership” and the campaign slogan is "Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise".
